Businesses and nonprofits understand the need to prepare for active threats, but many don’t know where to begin. We have identified resources to help prepare for, respond to and recover from active threats.
The American Red Cross provides active threat training for businesses and nonprofits through its Ready Rating program. In metro Denver, the American Red Cross is providing free training to organizations that is designed to prepare organizations to recognize when an event is happening, teach steps to help prepare workers to respond, and includes basic training on first aid and bleeding control. Fill out this contact form for more information on training.
We believe every business, public building and workplace should both have a bleeding control kit and have the majority of people trained to use it. We are working to ensure that publicly accessible, high traffic locations in our community have access to the materials and training necessary to be prepared for active threats. If you want to know if an organization has a response plan, contact them directly and ask the question.
Safe A Life Denver is a collaboration between American Red Cross Colorado, CEPP, Denver Health Paramedics, Denver Police Foundation, and Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. Together, we provide resources and training to empower you to take appropriate action in the moment, and to talk with others about preparing for active threats. As a community, we can do more to prepare for, respond to and recover from active threats. Even though this is a difficult and uncomfortable subject to talk about, thinking about and planning for your response to an active threat can save lives. As a community, we will be more prepared and resilient if we are all empowered to save lives.
